Once again, the Radio Seagull site is temporarily offline. This is due to the moving of equipment from one location to another and various problems holding things up. It should be back online again very soon. In the meantime, if you wish to listen to Radio Seagull via the internet, all you have to do is add this I.P. address to your Winamp or Real player : http://195.35.147.149:8000/

Hard to believe that after recently reporting on the death of Syd Barratt, there is another sad loss in the world of music:
Arthur Lee, the singer and guitarist for psychedelic rock pioneers Love, has died at the age of 61. Lee died yesterday (Aug. 3) at the Methodist University Hospital in his hometown of Memphis after battling leukemia.
His manager, Mark Linn said "His death comes as a shock to me because Arthur had the uncanny ability to bounce back from everything, and leukemia was no exception. He was confident that he would be back on stage by the fall."
Lee formed Love in Los Angeles in 1965 and recorded three albums with the group's original lineup, including 1968's psychedelic classic "Forever Changes," frequently voted one of the greatest albums of all time.

He was born Roger Keith Barrett in Cambridge in 1946 and met future bandmates Roger Waters and David Gilmour at school there.

He suffered from diabetes and had not been recording music in recent years. Rest in peace Syd... our prayers go out to his family.

It is with great sadness, that we must inform you, that as of later today Apple FM will cease broadcasting on Sky Digital 0163. The decision has been taken by Apple FM's management, that in the current financial climate, it would be un-wise to continue. We would like to sincerely thank Jack Knowlson & the staff at Apple for their continued support for The Overflow and for airing the programme as part of their regular schedule. Best wishes to you all for the future. As always, The Overflow continues, via the various internet streams & of course on 1602Khz AM : Radio Seagull. www.radioseagull.com

Happy birthday to us.... (Hope you are all singing loudly)! At the end of this year on December 17th, The Overflow will celebrate it's 20th year of broadcasting alternative & underground music, via one means or another! Yet this week, see's another anniversary for us and as good excuse to party as any. Since the show moved to Holland in 2002, we have been on air regularly, first via Radio Caroline, then since the closure of that, via Radio Seagull. The 200th edition of The Overflow will be aired this coming weekend. So raise your glass, enjoy the music & party hard with us. We would like to sincerely thank anyone & everyone that has supported the programme.

If you are one of our listeners that enjoy The Overflow on Sky Digital, then please note, from MARCH 1st, Apple FM which airs our programmes, is moving to a new channel number : 0163. This is due to a major re-shuffle of the Sky Channels, including this new 4-digit section, purely for Radio stations only. Any problems finding us, e-mail us!

Over the last few weekends, The Overflow has also been heard on Saturday afternoons between 4 - 7pm, on Apple FM - Sky digital Channel 913. This is not a permanent programme slot, just a replacement for what is usually there at this time, when no other programming has been provided. Our usual time slots on Apple still apply, though it is worth taking a peek to see if the Starship Overflow has made an emergency landing around these times!

Welcome to the brand new home of The Overflow Radio Show. The old site has now been removed and this is our happy new abode! Due to a ridiculously huge bill, kindly given to us by Nominet (who the old site was registered through), We have now moved to www.123connect.co.uk for both registration & web hosting. I must thank both them and www.jackboxwebdesign.co.uk for their help in resolving matters. If you are a site owner, you may be interested to know that upon renewal, Nominet tried to charge us 3 times the amount that 123 Connect did. My personal view is avoid this company completely, if you dont want to end up in a similar position. No slanderous comment intended, just my opinion and certainly with our case, the fee is FACT! So, the Starship Overflow is airbourne once again.... well, due to the saving, we can afford the deisel now!!!

Finally, great news from Holland! Congratulations to Radio Seagull, who are now operating full time on 1602khz AM using their new solid state 1 kilowatt transmitter. The internet stream is currently relaying the AM sound, which has put a nice touch to the sound of Seagull over the last few weeks. However, a new link will be constructed soon re-introducing the top quality stereo sound, as heard previously. Dont forget THE OVERFLOW is on air Friday & Saturday evenings from 7pm.

More exciting news from Radio Seagull in Holland! We were asked to keep quiet about this until now.... They are the proud owners of the LV8 (NOT LV18 as some places have reported - lol), a lightship to be converted into a radio ship. The ship is no longer in hiding, it has now moved to the port of Harlingen. For a detailed report and some fantastic pictures, go to : http://www.beachradio.nl/ ,where all is revealed. The new 1Kw transmitter has now arrived, Radio Waddenzee will officially open proceedings from the radioship, on July 2nd. CONGRATULATIONS SHIPMATES!
2nd June 2005
Back on the 13th of May, we brought you news of Radio Seagull switching on 1602Khz AM. Despite the low power of only 120 Watts at this stage, Seagull has received many reports from the East coast of England. As far North as Cleethorpes and as far south as Essex. The power is due to increase in the first week of July, when the new 1 Kilowatt solid state transmitter arrives. The two masts are proving very efficient so far, so we look forward to hearing Holland's finest - Seagull 1602 with a bigger & better signal soon.

If you are one of our more observant, less vague readers, you will have noticed the new red banner on the Overflow homepage (assuming you are not with AOL that is - if so, give it another week huh)! This is just the beginning of many changes coming soon to this site. Overflow webmaster Tim Rice, is currently working on a logo for us and has plans to give the site a complete facelift in the near future (though I did suggest he may like to give the Black Widow one first - a facelift that is). Check back here soon if you wish to see Tim's imminent movements.... Oo-er!
13th May 2005

Since Friday 12th Feb, a continuous music stream has been running on Radio Seagull. Don't panic folks, this is just the emergency back-up system to keep the station on air, as a major technical problem has occured. Unfortunately, it happened whilst the main Seagull techy was off on holiday, but is'nt that always the way? Normal service will be resumed very soon, so be sure to check out that The Overflow is back... as it will be, along with the mighty Radio Seagull!
15th January 2005

The Radio Seagull Test Transmissions from the MV Thalassa have now finished. Although the tests were successful, various complications mean that the ship will no longer be usedas the broadcasting site.
Plans continue for the new full time service on 1602khz AM (a split service of Radio Seagull & Radio Waddenzee), which will commence from a new landbased site soon.
Meantime, a new deal has been struck between Radio Seagull & Apple FM.
From Monday 17th January, Radio Seagull can once again be heard on Sky Digital Sattelite across Europe - Channel 913, a nightime service between 2 - 6 am Monday - Friday.
All of the Seagull staff will be taking it in turns to cover the new time-slots, so an extra few hours for the Overflow too - which is great!
Once schedule details are received they will be posted both here and on our schedule page.
It wasn't planned, but it seems we have just achieved our longest broadcast in 18 years. The Overflow has been on air since 5.30pm on Christmas eve and at this stage; is still on air! We will be closing at 11pm tonight.
This website has been mentioned in the latest Hans Knot Radio Report (Dec 04). To read these very informative newsletters, go towww.offshore-radio.deand click on Hans Knot at the top of the page.
